Matthew 6:19-21 speaks directly to treasure, desire, and the direction of the heart. Jesus warns His disciples not to store up treasures on earth, where moth, rust, and thieves can destroy, but to store up treasures in heaven. This message explores the simple but searching truth that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also.
The teaching is not merely about money. It is about what we value, pursue, protect, and trust. Earthly treasure can include possessions, reputation, comfort, security, achievement, and approval. These things can quietly claim the heart if we are not watchful. Jesus calls His people to invest in what is eternal, not what is temporary.
This message invites us to examine what our choices reveal about our treasure. What do we give our time to? What do we fear losing? What do we believe will satisfy us? Christ calls us to seek first the kingdom of God and to live with eternity in view. The heart follows treasure, so we must learn to treasure what God says truly lasts.
