James 5:19-20 closes the letter with a sobering and pastoral word: if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, that person saves a soul from death and covers a multitude of sins. This message asks directly whether a believer can fall away from the faith, and it wrestles with that question by looking not only at James, but at the wider testimony of Scripture.
The teaching considers the seriousness of continuing in the faith. Scripture contains real warnings, not empty hypotheticals. James is writing to brethren, and he speaks of someone among them wandering from the truth. The message therefore calls believers not to treat faith lightly, not to presume upon grace while walking away from Christ, and not to ignore the danger of drifting into error, sin, and unbelief.
Yet this study is not without hope. The very passage speaks of someone being turned back. The call is to hold fast to the gospel, continue in the faith, and respond when the Lord confronts us through His Word and His people. For those who are still listening, still wrestling, still looking to Christ, the encouragement is to come back, cling to Him, and continue in the truth that first gave life.
