Colossians 4:7-18 -Faithful Servants, Fellow Workers, and the Sufficiency of Christ

Colossians 4:7-18 closes the letter with a list of greetings, names, companions, and fellow workers. It may be easy to skim over these closing words, but they show us that gospel ministry is not abstract. It is lived out through real people: Tychicus, Onesimus, Aristarchus, Mark, Justus, Epaphras, Luke, Demas, Nymphas, Archippus, and others whose lives intersected with Paul’s service to Christ.

The message brings these names to life by showing the different ways believers served, encouraged, carried messages, prayed earnestly, opened homes, laboured faithfully, and stood with Paul. Some are remembered for faithfulness, some for struggle, and some, like Demas, remind us soberly that not every story ends as we would hope. Even the final greetings teach us to value ordinary, faithful service in the body of Christ.

The series then closes by drawing the main themes of Colossians together. Christ is supreme over all things, fully God in bodily form, the source of spiritual life and authority, and completely sufficient for His people. Believers lack nothing in Him. We are called to reject empty philosophies and man-made religion, put off the old life, put on the new, and live out faith in our homes, churches, workplaces, speech, and prayers. Grace be with you.
