In Matthew 6:22-23, Jesus speaks of the eye as the lamp of the body. This short passage sits between His teaching on treasure and His warning about serving two masters. That placement matters. What we look to, desire, and focus on shapes the whole direction of life. If the eye is good, the body is full of light. If the eye is bad, darkness follows.
This message considers spiritual sight and inner focus. A divided or corrupted eye does not merely affect one part of life. It affects everything. Jesus is pressing us to consider whether our vision is fixed on God and His kingdom, or whether it is clouded by greed, envy, self-interest, and worldly desire.
The passage calls us to bring our focus before the Lord. What are we allowing to guide us? What do we keep looking at, longing for, or chasing? A life filled with light is not accidental. It comes from a heart turned toward God, with desires brought under His rule and truth.
