In Matthew 7:15-20, Jesus warns His disciples to beware of false prophets who come in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. This message takes that warning seriously. False teaching is not always obvious at first glance. It can sound spiritual, use familiar language, and appear attractive while quietly leading people away from Christ.
The teaching focuses on Jesus’ test: you will know them by their fruits. Fruit includes conduct, character, doctrine, influence, and what is produced in the lives of those who listen. A good tree bears good fruit, and a bad tree bears bad fruit. This requires patience, wisdom, and discernment, because the danger is often subtle rather than immediately obvious.
This message calls believers to be careful about whose teaching they receive, especially in a time when sermons, clips, and teachings are available everywhere. The question is not merely whether someone sounds convincing, quotes Scripture, or uses Christian language. The question is whether the fruit points to Christ, the cross, repentance, holiness, truth, and faithful obedience to God.
