In Matthew 7:7-12, Jesus teaches His disciples to ask, seek, and knock. These words are familiar to many believers, but this message invites us to slow down and consider them carefully. Prayer is not merely a religious habit or emergency response. It is the believer’s direct approach to the Father, marked by persistence, trust, and surrender.
The message considers the encouragement Jesus gives: the one who asks receives, the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks the door will be opened. This is not permission to demand whatever we want on our own terms. It is an invitation to bring our needs before God while trusting His wisdom, goodness, and will. The Father knows how to give good gifts to His children.
The passage closes with what is often called the Golden Rule, tying prayer and kingdom living together. Those who receive mercy from the Father are called to treat others with the same kind of mercy, truth, and care. This message reminds us that persistent prayer should shape a faithful life, and faithful living should drive us back to prayer.
